Domestic Solar Panel Installation

We install solar PV systems for houses across Sheffield and Yorkshire. Solar panels generate electricity from daylight which reduces what you buy from the grid. Most domestic installations are 8-16 panels depending on roof space and electricity usage.

Solar panels can reduce electricity bills by around 50-60% depending on how much you use during the day. Adding battery storage lets you use solar power in the evening and can reduce bills by up to 80-85%.

Installation takes one to two days for a standard domestic system. Panels go on the roof, an inverter goes in the loft or garage, and we connect everything to your consumer unit. We handle all electrical work and notify the DNO (District Network Operator) as required.

Battery Storage Systems

Battery storage stores excess solar power generated during the day for use in the evening. Without batteries, surplus solar goes back to the grid for minimal payment. With batteries, you use that power yourself instead of buying expensive evening electricity. Typical domestic batteries range from 5kWh to 15kWh.

Commercial Solar Installation

We install commercial solar PV systems for businesses, industrial units, schools, warehouses, and public sector buildings across Sheffield and Yorkshire. Commercial installations are typically larger – from 20kW up to several hundred kW for industrial sites.

Commercial solar makes sense for businesses with daytime electricity usage. Manufacturing, warehouses, offices, and retail premises can see significant savings. We work with building contractors, M&E contractors, local authorities, and directly with businesses.

Commercial projects involve site surveys, structural assessments, DNO applications, and electrical integration with existing systems. We handle the full installation from design through to commissioning and handover.

Solar Panel Types

We install monocrystalline solar panels from Tier 1 manufacturers. Monocrystalline panels are the current standard – they’re more efficient than older polycrystalline panels and perform better in lower light and heat.

Panel output is measured in watts – typical domestic panels are 400-450W each. A 4kW system uses around 10 panels, a 6kW system uses around 14 panels. Actual number depends on individual panel wattage and available roof space.

Solar Inverters

Solar inverters convert DC power from panels to AC power for your house. We install string inverters and hybrid inverters (which also manage battery storage). All inverters come with manufacturer warranties, typically 10-12 years.

How Solar Installation Works

Contact us and we’ll arrange a site survey. We check your roof, electrical setup, and discuss your electricity usage. Then we design a system and provide a written quote.

Once you’re happy to proceed, we order equipment and arrange installation. For domestic systems this takes 1-2 days. Commercial installations take longer depending on size. After installation we commission the system, register it with your DNO, and show you how everything works.

Solar Panel Performance

Solar panels work in daylight, not just direct sunshine. They generate most power in summer but still produce electricity in winter. Typical UK systems generate around 850-950kWh per installed kW per year.

A 4kW system generates roughly 3,400-3,800kWh annually. A 6kW system generates around 5,100-5,700kWh per year. Actual generation depends on roof orientation, pitch, and shading.
