Joseph Walker started this business on Spinkfield Road in the 1930s selling timber, and nearly a hundred years on, his great-grandson Mark still runs it from the same yard in Birkby. Skip hire is the newest branch on an old family tree — alongside the timber, fencing and decking the Walkers have supplied Huddersfield for four generations, we now take the waste away too.

Hiring a skip with us is deliberately simple: order it, we deliver it, you fill it, we collect it. We specialise in mini and midi skips, and where a skip isn’t the right fit for the job, we also offer a grab bag service as an alternative. Our three core sizes are a 2 cubic yard skip from £140 including VAT, a 4 cubic yard skip from £170, and an 8 cubic yard skip from £290, each collected once you’ve filled it up. Because skip hire sits alongside a fully stocked timber and fencing yard, we’re not a business that only thinks about waste. Our Spinkfield Road site sells everything from fence panels, trellis and tanalised fencing to decking, sleepers, planed and sawn timber, skirting boards, plasterboard, insulation and concrete posts, along with the tools and fixings to finish the job. If you’re clearing a garden project, replacing a fence, or renovating a room, there’s a decent chance we can supply what you’re building as well as take away what you’re pulling out.

What You’re Covered By

Every skip we deliver is covered by public liability insurance of up to £10,000,000, so you’re properly protected while it’s on your property. If your skip needs to go on a road or public path, we handle the council permit ourselves, since the skip remains our property — just let us know when you book so we can arrange it in good time. We ask that skips aren’t filled above the marked fill line, and we can’t take hazardous waste or fuel and oil, but beyond that, if you’ve got specific requirements, ask and we’ll do what we can to accommodate you.
